Did you know you can plant your moon?

Menstrual blood is one of the most powerful symbols we are reclaiming and it speaks to our true nature.

Our blood is not dirty or a dead fluid that is eliminated; it contains nutrients and minerals, and it is when we menstruate that all the life energy contained within us is released and manifested.

Menstruation connects us to our wild nature, to the rhythms of the moon and the earth. It reminds us that we are daughters of the Earth and, as such, she has given us the greatest gift she possesses: fertility, the power to create.

Reconnecting with our blood is essential to connecting with our sacred cycles. Touching it, smelling it, and honoring it is a way to connect with the power of death and regeneration that resides within us.

For years we've been told that menstruation smells bad, isn't "pretty," and is even something we should hide. The products we're offered don't allow us to truly see the color, consistency, and smell of our blood, masking it in a way that makes us believe bleeding is a dirty act that should be clean and odorless.

There are women who dread the arrival of their period, seeing it as a problem; women who don't know what phase of their cycle they are in; women who feel disgust or rejection when they come into direct contact with their blood.

Some of us have been one of those women, for years we have lived totally disconnected from who we are, without stopping to observe our cyclical nature, a great reflection of our health.

Talking about our blood, offering it, or connecting with it artistically is a way to make it visible and recognize ourselves as conscious menstruating beings.

Another way to recognize her is through planting. An act of planting can become a sacred act, a ritual of connection with Mother Earth.

Offering your blood is caring for the Earth and helping it heal, because by healing yourself, you become in harmony with everything around you.

Each time we offer our blood, we are performing an act of recognition to ourselves and to the Earth that sustains us. We create a direct channel of communication with her, showing her who we are and where we come from. We give her not only genetic information, but also everything we have been in the past month.

We open ourselves to her from a place of vulnerability, like a daughter to her mother. And she, with love and resilience, embraces everything that comes to give us back what we need to learn, understand, or integrate. Thank you, Mother, thank you.

Menstruation is not an act of healing or cleansing; it is an act of surrender. Menstruation offers us the possibility of connecting with complete surrender, with an act of love, with an act of giving in and trusting.

When we give our blood to the Earth, we can also connect with a personal or universal purpose, just as we can offer or pray for whatever we feel.

Let us not forget that our sowing goes beyond ourselves, for in each offering of your blood, you are offering part of your roots, you are making visible part of your feminine lineage. Remember the ancestral power that is also awakened in that offering.

We invite you to be mindful each time you menstruate, to connect with your blood, to make peace with the cyclical woman you are, to not discard this sacred flow down the toilet, and to give it a place of recognition and power.

How to offer your blood?

  • You can collect it in a glass jar and return it to the Earth when you complete your cycle. This can be done in your garden or somewhere in nature. You can also place it in your houseplants, although the energetic connection will be different.
  • During the act of planting, you can offer a prayer of gratitude or set a purpose.
  • You can paint your body or parts of it that you feel may need the medicine from your blood.
  • You can also paint with your blood on a canvas whatever you feel you want to express.
  • Menstrual Alchemy Preparations: homeopathic elixir, menstrual blood dehydration.

There are countless ways, offerings, feelings, and purposes that help us connect with our blood. What's yours?
